Prof. Damien P. McLoughlin BBS MBS PhD (Lancaster)

 

Damien McLoughlin

Prof. Damien P. McLoughlin, BBS MBS PhD (Lancaster), is Professor of Marketing, Head of the Marketing subject area and Director of Executive Education at UCD Michael Smurfit Graduate Business School. He has served on the faculty of the S.C. Johnson Graduate School of Management at Cornell University and Asia’s leading business school, the Indian School of Business.

Known as a Strategic Marketing specialist, Damien has published more than fifty papers in prestigious international journals and conferences including Industrial Marketing Management, Journal of Business Research and Journal of Strategic Marketing. He has also published a book with David A. Aaker of UC Berkeley, Strategic Market Management: Global Edition.

Damien has worked with a number of the world’s leading firms including Alltech, Allianz, Google, Hewlett-Packard and Microsoft. He designed and leads Alltech’s Global Advanced Management Programme, Google’s Marketing Academy for the EMEA region and Bord Bia’s Marketing Fellowship Programme. He was formerly Dean of UCD Smurfit School. He was appointed to the Medical Council of Ireland in 2008, and to the board of the Health Information and Quality Authority (HIQA) in 2010, by the Minster for Health and Children. He acts as an advisor to a number of start-ups in the technology sector and is a member of the advisory boards of high growth firms including GeoGuides Ltd. He is active as an expert witness in cases involving marketing issues. His work is highly regarded and has been recognised with a number of domestic and international awards and distinctions. A regular media contributor, he has contributed to a range of print and broadcast media outlets including Sky News, RTE, The Financial Times, The Irish Times, The Sunday Times, The Sunday Independent and Newstalk 106.

Conor Lynch, Connector.ie

 

Conor Lynch B.Sc. (Mgmt.) HDMP is the current chair of the Irish Internet Association Social Media Group and speaks regularly at events about social media.  Conor has 12 years online marketing experience and has worked for some of Ireland’s top internet marketing agencies and  Ireland’s first internet only bank (RaboDirect).
 

Conor was voted the Irish Internet Association’s  “Internet Marketer of the Year 2005” while Online Marketing Manager for RaboDirect.  He has an Honours (2.1) Degree & Post Graduate Diploma in Marketing Management as a graduate from DIT and the Smurfit Business School.  He has worked in Asia Pacific, US, UK and Ireland with a wide range of companies including startups, SME’s and big brands.

Paul Somerville

 

Paul Somerville has 22 years experience of financial services. Paul returned to Ireland after 21 years and joined Delta Index in July 2008. For the previous 6 years Paul was Senior Trading Advisor on spread betting and contracts for difference with City Index Advisory in the UK. Before that, Paul was head of Interest rate futures at Tullett & Tokyo in Japan where he worked and advised banks and institutions during Japan’s lost decade.

Paul is a well-known contributor to radio and television, most notably on his weekly slot on Newstalk’s “Down to Business” and most recently Bloomberg TV, as well as Nightly News with Vincent Browne.

Jim Power joined Friends First in 2000 as Chief Economist.  He previously worked as Chief Economist at Bank of Ireland and Treasury Economist at AIB group.  He holds a B.A in Economics and Politics, and a Master of Economic Science Degree from University College Dublin.

Jim currently lectures part-time on the MBA programme in Smurfit Business School.  He is a frequent contributor on economic and financial matters in the Irish and UK media

John Corrigan, Chief Executive, NTMA

 

 
John Corrigan was appointed Chief Executive of the National Treasury Management Agency with effect from 4 December 2009.  As Chief Executive of the NTMA he is Chair of the National Development Finance Agency and is also a member of the board of the National Asset Management Agency and of the National Pensions Reserve Fund (NPRF). 
 
He joined the NTMA in 1991 where he has had a number of responsibilities at Director level, including responsibility for funding and debt management and, more recently, for the NPRF.  He played a leading role in negotiating the terms of the Government’s recapitalisation of the Irish banks via the NPRF.
 
Before joining the NTMA he held the position of Chief Investment Officer of AIB Investment Managers, having previously worked in the Department of Finance.  He is a graduate of University College Dublin.
